The Indian Coast Guard CGEPT Recruitment 2026 has opened the online application window for 365 posts of Navik (General Duty), Navik (Domestic Branch), Yantrik and Hygienist-I. The recruitment is for Enrolled Persons in the Indian Coast Guard through the Coast Guard Enrolled Personnel Test (CGEPT), covering Batches 01/2027 and 02/2027, and the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is conducting the application process on ssc.gov.in. Candidates who want to join the Indian Coast Guard through CGEPT 2026 should first match their qualification, date of birth and post preference against the official notification, because every post in this recruitment carries its own eligibility and age bracket.

Online applications for CGEPT 2026 started on 06 Oct 2026 at 11:00 AM, and the last date to apply online is 21 Oct 2026 at 5:30 PM. The fee must be paid with the application by 21 Oct 2026. To apply, candidates have to visit the official website of the Staff Selection Commission at ssc.gov.in and login, open the Coast Guard Enrolled Personnel Test (CGEPT) 01/2027 and 02/2027 recruitment, register or login with a valid email ID and mobile number, fill the application form, upload photo, signature and documents, pay the fee through the prescribed online mode, and submit the form. A printout of the final application should be kept for future reference. The official notice also provides an edit or correction window of 2 to 3 days for only a few fields after registration, and its dates will be announced; date of birth and gender cannot be changed at any stage. The exam date is yet to be notified, the admit card will be available before the exam, and the result date will be updated here.

The 365 vacancies are split across the two batches. In CGEPT-01/27 there are 130 Navik (General Duty) posts, with 117 male and 13 female vacancies, and 60 Yantrik posts, with 28 in Mechanical, 23 in Electrical and 09 in Electronics. In CGEPT-02/27 there are 130 Navik (General Duty) posts, again 117 male and 13 female, along with 25 Navik (Domestic Branch) posts for male candidates and 20 Hygienist-I posts for male candidates. Navik (General Duty) is therefore the largest share of the CGEPT 2026 vacancy, with 260 posts across the two batches, while Yantrik accounts for 60 posts.

Eligibility for CGEPT 2026 depends on the post. Navik (General Duty) needs Class 12 passed with Maths and Physics from a board recognised by COBSE. Navik (Domestic Branch) needs Class 10 passed from a board recognised by COBSE. Hygienist-I needs Matriculation or ITI or an equivalent qualification from a Board of Education recognised by the Central or State Government. Yantrik needs Class 10 from a COBSE board plus a Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics or Telecommunication (Radio / Power) Engineering of 3 or 4 years approved by AICTE; candidates with Class 10 and Class 12 from a COBSE board can apply with such a Diploma of 2 or 3 years approved by AICTE. Male and female Indian citizens can apply, and the vacancy table shows which posts carry male and female vacancies.

The age limit for CGEPT 2026 is fixed through date-of-birth brackets, and the bracket changes with the post. For Navik (General Duty) the date of birth must be between 01 Nov 2005 and 01 May 2009. For Yantrik it must be between 01 May 2005 and 01 May 2009. For Navik (Domestic Branch) it must be between 01 Nov 2005 and 01 Oct 2009. For Hygienist-I it must be between 01 Nov 2002 and 01 Oct 2009. The CGEPT application fee is Rs 550 for all other candidates, while SC and ST candidates are exempted. The fee is payable online only, through Net Banking, Visa, Master, Maestro, Debit Card or UPI, and the fee once paid is not refunded.

The CGEPT selection process has four stages, and qualifying in all stages is compulsory. Stage-I is a Computer Based Examination with one online paper of 100 multiple-choice questions carrying 1 mark each, for a total of 100 marks, to be finished in 1 hour. The paper is bilingual in Hindi and English and there is no negative marking. The qualifying marks are 40 percent for UR, EWS and OBC candidates and 35 percent for SC and ST candidates, marks are normalised where applicable, and the result is available on the candidate’s dashboard or login. Stage-II runs for 1 to 2 days at the allocated centre and is qualifying in nature. It covers identity and biometric verification, the Physical Fitness Test, the Assessment and Adaptability Test, document verification and the recruitment medical examination. The Assessment and Adaptability Test is qualifying, its marks are not counted in the merit list, but they are used for tie-breaking. Stage-III prepares the final merit list, zone-wise and category-wise for Navik (General Duty) Male and all-India category-wise for Navik (General Duty) Female, Yantrik, Navik (Domestic Branch) and Hygienist-I, on the basis of Stage-I marks plus qualification in all Stage-II phases and the available vacancies. In a tie, the older candidate is ranked higher, followed by higher marks in the Assessment Test. Stage-III is followed by the pre-enrolment medical examination at INS Chilka, where a candidate declared unfit can appeal within 5 working days. Stage-IV is document verification by the boards constituted by SSC and the Indian Coast Guard before induction. The tentative schedule in the official notice places Stage-I in Early or Mid Nov 2026, Stage-II at the End of Feb 2027, and Stage-III in Early May 2027 for CGEPT-01/27 and Mid Oct 2027 for CGEPT-02/27, with exact dates to be announced on the candidate login.

Physical standards matter as much as the written paper in this recruitment. In the Physical Fitness Test, all four tests are taken in continuity without a break: the 1.6 km run in 6:30 minutes for male and 8:00 minutes for female candidates, 20 squats for male and 15 for female candidates, 15 push-ups for male and 10 for female candidates, and 15 bent-knee sit-ups for male and 10 bent-knee sit-ups for female candidates. The minimum height is 157 cm for male and 152 cm for female candidates, with relaxations up to 5 cm for candidates domiciled in Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Garhwal, Kumaon and Sikkim, and for Gorkhas, and up to 2 cm for Ladakh, Lakshadweep and Minicoy and Andaman and Nicobar. Weight must be proportionate to height and age as applicable for the Indian Coast Guard, hearing must be normal with a whisper heard at 6 metres in each ear, and the dental standard asks for healthy gums, a good set of teeth and a minimum of 14 dental points. Permanent tattoos are not permitted except tribal concessions, and otherwise only on the inner face of the forearms from elbow to wrist and the reverse side of the palm or back of the hand. Visual standards differ by post: Navik (General Duty) needs 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the worse eye, Navik (Domestic Branch) 6/36 and 6/36, Yantrik 6/24 and 6/24, and Hygienist-I 6/60 and 6/60 without glasses and 6/9 and 6/24 with glasses, and candidates wearing glasses are not eligible for Navik (General Duty). The recruitment medical examination is held in Stage-II, and an appeal against an unfit verdict can be filed within 14 days at a designated AFMS hospital.

On the pay side, Yantrik carries a basic pay of Rs 29,200 in Pay Level-5 plus Yantrik pay of Rs 6,200 per month, while Navik (General Duty), Navik (Domestic Branch) and Hygienist-I carry a basic pay of Rs 21,700 in Pay Level-3.
