The Bihar Technical Service Commission (BTSC) has released the notification for BTSC TVO Recruitment 2026, opening the online application for the post of Touring Veterinary Officer and Equivalent under Advertisement No. 27/2026. A total of 787 posts are on offer, and candidates who meet the eligibility conditions can apply online through the official BTSC website. The online application window started on 24 September 2026, and the last date to apply online is 23 October 2026, which is also the last date for fee payment.
With 787 Touring Veterinary Officer posts to be filled through a single selection process, this is a major opportunity for veterinary graduates in Bihar. The application fee is only Rs 100 for all candidates, and the complete details — dates, fee, age limit, vacancy, eligibility, selection process and important links — are given below. Candidates planning to apply should first read the eligibility and age conditions, and then fill the online application well before the last date.
The BTSC TVO eligibility condition is a B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree from a university recognised by the Veterinary Council of India. Along with the degree, permanent registration with the Bihar Veterinary Council is compulsory, since this registration forms part of the eligibility for the Touring Veterinary Officer post. Candidates should confirm that their registration is in place before they fill the application.
The BTSC TVO age limit is counted as on 01.08.2026. The minimum age is 21 years, and the maximum age for Unreserved candidates is 37 years. The maximum age is 40 years for Unreserved (Female) candidates and for BC / EBC (Male & Female) candidates, and 42 years for SC / ST (Male & Female) candidates. Divyang candidates get an additional relaxation of 10 years, and government servants with 3 years of continuous service get 5 years, subject to the other conditions as per rules. Age relaxation benefits apply only to Bihar-domicile candidates claiming the relevant category; other candidates are treated as Unreserved for age.
The BTSC TVO salary is fixed in Pay Matrix Level-9, with a pay scale of Rs 53,100 – 1,67,800. This is the pay scale for the Touring Veterinary Officer post under this recruitment, and it is one of the reasons the BTSC TVO vacancy attracts so many veterinary graduates. Candidates comparing this recruitment with other Bihar recruitments usually look first at the pay scale and the selection pattern, and both are covered in detail below.
The BTSC TVO selection process works on a total of 100 marks, divided as CBT 75 + Experience up to 25. The CBT carries 100 multiple-choice questions in Hindi and English, to be answered in 2 hours, for 100 marks, with the syllabus at B.V.Sc. & A.H. level. There is negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer, normalisation applies if the test is held in multiple shifts, and the CBT marks are scaled by 0.75 for the merit list.
The minimum qualifying marks in the CBT are 40% for General candidates, 36.5% for BC, 34% for EBC, and 32% for SC / ST, women and Divyang candidates. Candidates from outside Bihar need 40% irrespective of category. Experience marks, up to a maximum of 25, are given only for contractual work on an equivalent post in the Animal & Fisheries Resources Department or an equivalent department, in proportion to the days worked, and counted only up to 23.10.2026. An NOC and an experience certificate from the competent authority are required for these marks.
The merit list is prepared on the total of the scaled CBT marks and the experience marks. In case of a tie, the candidate with higher CBT marks ranks above, followed by higher experience marks, then the older date of birth, and finally the Hindi alphabetical order of the name. The exam date, admit card and result are Notify Soon in this recruitment, so the notification PDF and the official website remain the reference for the next update on the BTSC TVO exam date and admit card.
The BTSC TVO application fee is Rs 100 for all candidates, with bank charges extra. The fee can be paid online through Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking or UPI, and the last date for fee payment is 23 October 2026.
To apply online, candidates should visit the official website of BTSC at btsc.bihar.gov.in and open the Touring Veterinary Officer advertisement under Advt No. 27/2026. After registering or logging in, the application form has to be filled carefully with correct details, and the photo, signature and required documents uploaded as per the instructions. The fee of Rs 100 is then paid through the prescribed online mode, the form is submitted, and a printout of the final application is taken for future reference.
The category-wise breakup of the 787 posts is given in the official notification PDF, and the PDF download link is given below in Important Links. The vacancies may increase or decrease if further requisition is received by the last date, so the notification PDF remains the reference for the final vacancy position.
The comparison between the TVO and FEO recruitments is covered in the FAQs below, and the difference lies in the qualification and the pay scale. TVO, or Touring Veterinary Officer, comes under Advt 27/2026 with 787 posts, and it needs a B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree plus permanent registration with the Bihar Veterinary Council, with a pay scale of Level-9 (Rs 53,100 – 1,67,800). FEO, or Fishery Extension Officer, comes under Advt 28/2026 with 231 posts, and it needs a 4-year B.Sc. Fisheries Science degree from an ICAR-recognised institution, with a pay scale of Level-7. In both recruitments, the selection is on CBT (75) + Experience (25) = 100 marks.
